Scoring (and Financial?) Woes
By: bingitz2002 | August 19th, 2008
Whoever says what happens in pre-season isn’t indicative of what happens in the regular season is full of it. The evidence? August 19, Lugano 0-0 Torino. David Di Michele shoots a penalty straight at the ‘keeper and if creating chances was like creating good food we’d still be stuck on frozen waffles after this game. Our awful performance against a team in the semi-pro Swiss Challenge League reminds us that we still have a long ways to go and that Bianchi would be a wonderful addition.
In other news, midfielder Davide Bottone has been loaned to Vicenza with an option for co-ownership. The 22 year-old made nine appearances and scored a goal for Toro last team. He’s been called for the Azzurrini but never featured. I’m sure he will get some time there and come back ready for Serie A.
Our ongoing transfer sagas continue as the club management continues to dither around like nothing is the matter. All sorts of rumors but nothing even remotely official on the Pinzi, Bianchi, or Pozzi fronts. Furthermore, I have read the phrase ‘Grella set for €5 million switch to Fulham/Blackburn’ so many times that I’m beginning to think it’s not actually going to happen, but simply put in the media by the management to ease our worries regarding the club’s bad finances. Now, I’m no expert on how the finances of clubs work (especially in the murky world of Italian football), but that doesn’t look good to me.

Maybe we can increase “Palermo 2″ by giving you Guana for free. No, he won’t help with scoring…but I really don’t want to see him in rosanero again this year…
