Acquafresca Murders The Love Of His Life
By: chris | March 17th, 2008
Cagliari 3 - Torino Squadoosh
So here’s what happened. Robert Acquafresca got in touch with Urban Cairo and Massimo Cellino at some point last week and proposed a deal: If Cairo would allow Cagliari to kick the shit out of the Granata this weekend, the Sardines would give Torino a discount on their half of Bobby Freshwater in the summer (also the reason why Rosinaldo was left on the bench from the start). And Freshwater, who is from Torino, grew up in their system and only went to Inter during The Great Roster Dump Of 2005, would score these two goals against the love of his life but not celebrate. Limiting the embarrassment to the Granata and getting themselves a superstud young attacker to partner up with Rosinaldo as they make their way towards creating another Il Grande Torino. Now they have to figure something out for the game against Inter in a couple of weeks to deal with the other half of Acquafresca’s contract.
At least that’s my take on things.
No streams were showing the game when I got there, so I missed this one - which was apparently fortunate.
Now what the hell Novellino was doing in starting Lazetic and then bringing on Rosinaldo for a tactical substitution in the 28TH MINUTE……I just have no idea. Dude’s your best player, and you’re one, leaving him on the bench to start, and then bringing him on 28 minutes in. What shite.
Simone Barone’s “hand ball” was just another example of the joke being referred to as “refereeing” in Serie A this season, but it’s not like it really would have mattered. Di Michele missed his gimme on the spot, and it sounds like it was completely downhill from there.
Safety is probable, and any type of European spot it way out of the question, so at this point it’s, uh, whatever. Some nice performances would be really nice, and a little something heading into next year, but as long as they stay safe, I’m more interested in what Cairo and Lupo have in store for the summer besides ex-Palermo players and/or dudes who passed their “sell by” date last century.
Until then, it’s Udinese on Wednesday. Oh joy.
The highlights, including Simone Barone’s handball, which was actually a thighball.
